HerSecure conducted an informal study with 10 women to evaluate an early prototype of the HerSecure Pressure Guard.  Each of the women in the study suffered from urinary incontinence of various types (stress, mixed, and urge urinary incontinence) and were not satisfied with existing treatment options.  The women wore the device for an average of a week’s time – some of the women only wore the device at night, others only during exercise, and others 24 hours a day depending on when they typically experience leakage.

40% of the women suffered from stress incontinence, 40% suffered from urge incontinence, and 20% suffered from mixed incontinence.  The women were all over the age of 50.  The purpose of the study and survey was to obtain feedback on the Pressure Guard’s efficacy in reducing or eliminating leakage as well to evaluate the product’s comfort and ease of use.

Although 10 patients are not enough to make any strong conclusions, early results were promising with none of the women experiencing any leakage episodes while wearing the Pressure Guard despite experiencing 1 to 4 leakage episodes daily without the Pressure Guard.

Without wearing the device the women reported between 1 and 4 daily leakage episodes, but while wearing the device none of the women reported any leakage episodes.  HerSecure also asked women to rate the comfort and ease of use of the device.  HerSecure received an average of 4.9 stars (out of 5) in terms of comfort and 4.8 stars (out of 5) in terms of ease of use.  None of the women reported skin irritation, infection, or any other adverse reaction while wearing the Pressure Guard.

Early results are promising and HerSecure is gearing up for a formal clinical trial with 100 patients.
